Configuration

Where the app keeps its settings, layout and secrets, and what each Settings page configures.

Settings are persistent preferences: appearance, window material and tint, fonts, terminals, the editor and integrations. Open them with Cmd+, on macOS or Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux. Settings take the whole window, with their own sidebar and a way back.

The config folder

The app's files live in its config folder, the first of these that applies:

  1. $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/krad-ade, when XDG_CONFIG_HOME is set;
  2. ~/.config/krad-ade, when HOME is set;
  3. %APPDATA%\krad-ade.

Secrets

Logins and keys are kept in the system keyring: the GitLab and GitHub logins, the Gateway key and MCP server secrets. Without a keyring, as under WSL without Secret Service, they go in the config folder, readable only by you.

What goes into your repository

The app writes into a group's repository only for notes: the vault in docs/notes/ and its Docs sources in docs/notes/sources.toml. Toolchain choices, layouts and settings stay in the config folder.

On a remote host

Files the app needs on a remote host live under ~/.krad-ade on that host, separated by app version and installation.
